There has been a huge reduction in the number of SUV customers in the recent past and as April 2020 draws closer, the heartbeat of the automakers is also increasing. There are still many car companies that have not yet upgraded a single car or SUV to the BS6 emission standard. This is why customers are also changing their choices. Because of BS6 standards, the prices of petrol and diesel vehicles are going to be big. Car companies have also already announced that the price of diesel models can be more than two lakh rupees compared to petrol. Maruti has already announced to discontinue diesel engines in some of its cars. Experts say that this trend is going to continue.

It is also worth noting that the new emission standard BS6 is going to be implemented in the country from April 2020 next year, but many vehicles have not been upgraded to the new standards yet. Due to which people are especially liking petrol vehicles especially in the SUV segment. Till now, diesel engines were the rule in this segment, but as of September 2019, 35% of SUV segment cars are sold with petrol version. Whereas this figure is 17 percent a year ago.

In the last few months, there has been a difference of fewer than five rupees in the prices of petrol and diesel, while in May 2012 this difference reached 31 rupees. In some states of the country like Gujarat, Odisha, Goa, the price of diesel is more than petrol. At the same time, due to the awareness of customers, the environment is also being considered. Sources say that the highest selling petrol variants are being sold in the best selling trains MG Hector and Kia Celtos.
