After the separation of Ladakh from Jammu and Kashmir, the government has issued an 'LA' registration tag for trains. According to a gazetted notification of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the Central Government has amended SO-444 using the powers vested in the Motor Vehicles Act 1988. As part of the amendment, serial number 71 has been changed to add LA to Ladakh in 17A. After this, cars with LA number plates will be seen in Ladakh.

It is the same as BR is used for Bihar, MP for Madhya Pradesh, UK number plate for Uttarakhand. Explain that the Central Government had abolished Article 370 on August 5, showing courage. With this, the government declared Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh as Union Territories. At that time, the opposition parties created a lot of uproar in Parliament and also raised slogans against the government. At the same time, some leaders of Jammu and Kashmir were also jailed. If your car or bike is running without a high security number plate, get a high security number plate in it soon. For this, the Transport Department has identified 236 dealers, who will put a high security number plate in your car.

It is to be noted that despite the order of the Supreme Court, so far 50 lakh scooter-bikes and 21 lakh cars have not been installed high security number plates in the capital Delhi. High security number plates are already installed in all trains coming from 2012 onwards, whereas earlier trains do not have a high security number plate. At the same time, high security number plates can be installed in only 2.6 lakh vehicles from October 2, 2018.
