Amritsar: A post mortem report (Atopsi report) has come to light in connection with the lynching (Kapurthala Mob lynching) of a mentally retarded person at Kapurthala Gurudwara in Punjab. It revealed that the deceased had 30 deep wounds on his body. The postmortem report reveals that he had deep wounds of sharp weapons on his body, possibly of a sword. Confirming this, senior medical officer Narinder Singh informed the media that a five-member board of doctors of the local civil hospital had conducted a postmortem of the body.

According to the post mortem report, deep wounds were found on the neck, head, chest, and right hip of the body. It is likely that he may have lost his breath due to a cut on his neck. The five-member board had also conducted chemical testing of the blood of the deceased to find out if he had taken any drug. Doctors took samples of her hair, teeth, and blood for his DNA test. We tried to identify the deceased but even after 72 hours, no one claimed the body, said Surinder, a city DSP who was present at the hospital.

Since no one claimed the body, the police took it to the crematorium and handed over the body to the municipal corporation for cremation. According to IG Dhillon, a case has been registered against the deceased under Section 295A on the statement of Gurudwara manager Amarjit Singh. However, police are yet to register an FIR against the accused in the murder of the person even after the autopsy report came in.
