New Delhi: The Civil Aviation Ministry has made a big announcement for domestic air travelers. With this, crores of passengers will benefit greatly and they will be able to travel in cheap fares. The ministry has extended the ban on increasing air travel fare till November 24. The order related to this was issued on 21 May after the airlines were allowed to operate after the lockdown. In this, the fare was decided on the basis of distance of air travel.
Following the outbreak of the Corona epidemic, the ministry had prohibited the increase in domestic airfare and had set the maximum and minimum limits for flights. Due to the increasing demand for air travel, the maximum limit was set to prevent excessive increase in fares, while the lower limit was set to ensure the operating cost of the airlines. In June itself, Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced the capping of flights on domestic routes. At that time, this capping was for 24 August, which has now been extended for 3 months.
According to the camping, the minimum fare for domestic journey less than 40 minutes was fixed at Rs 2,000 and the maximum fare was Rs 6,000. The fare for 40 to 60 minutes was Rs 2,500 and Rs 7,500 respectively. The minimum fare for a 60 to 90 minute flight is fixed at Rs 3,000 and the maximum fare is Rs 9,000. Similarly, for 90 to 120 minutes this fare is Rs 3,500 and Rs 10,000. The fare has been set between Rs 4,500 to Rs 13,000 for a journey of 120 minutes to 150 minutes. For a flight of 150 minutes to 180 minutes, the fare has been fixed at least Rs 5,500 and maximum Rs 15,570.
