Bhopal:  In a bid to discourage women from defecating in open, The Bhopal district administration organized a unique race, 'Lota Daud', in Phanda village in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday to raise awareness about open defecation among the people. All the mothers-in-law who were involved in this unique initiative of the administration aim to stop their daughters-in-law from defecating in the open.

The district administration held an initiative on Tuesday, to discourage women from defecating in open, when 18 elderly women ran in Phanda Kala village, the village, with water pots in their hands, to send a note to their daughters-in-law preventing them from using toilets.

The event was designed to make people more aware of using the toilets. Before there were no bathrooms, mothers-in-law would go to the fields. Now those mothers claim that I have had toilets in the house installed and that the government is providing water.

The winner of Lata Daud was chosen based on the amount of water left in the pot after the race. The winner threw away the pot at the finish line, sending a message to the whole community that they no longer need to carry these water pots for defecation in open spaces, said Tara Prajapati, a local resident.
