Nayagarh: A case has come to enlightenment from Nayagarh in Odisha state which shows how even today some sections of the society are caught in the shackles of superstition. Here, people from a village tried to revive a dead person with a mantra system. The postmortem of the deceased had been conducted. In this modern age of science and technology, this shocking incident took place in Barasahi village under Sarankul police station in Nayagarh city. The deceased was identified as Rabi Nahak.

In fact, 45-year-old Nahak participated in a local festival, 'Danda Nacha.' According to tradition, Nahak had not eaten for 36 hours. Two days ago, after Nahak fell ill, he was taken to the district headquarters hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. According to hospital protocol, a postmortem was conducted on Sunday and the body was handed over to nearby persons. The body was brought to the village. In this connection, when discussed with the CDMO of Nayagarh Dr. Shakti Prasad Mishra said, it came out from the postmortem that Nahak died due to dehydration which was caused by heat stroke.
