On Thursday, Axis Bank Ltd., listed in India's third-biggest private sector bank by assets, reported a surprise fourth-quarter loss. The loss is disturbed by an increase in stocks for bad loans.

According to the reports, the net loss was of Rs 2,189 crore that is $327.94 million. The estimated loss has been calculated for the three months ended on March 31. The numbers are compared with a profit of Rs 1,225 crore a year ago, the Mumbai-based bank quoted.

As per the analysts who have calculated the reports had an average expected a profit of Rs 514 crore, quoted in TOI. The states are measured according to Thomson Reuters data. Gross bad loans as a percentage of total loans rose to 6.77 per cent at end-March compared with 5.28 per cent in the preceding quarter and 5.04 per cent a year ago. Ahead of the Q4 results announcement, the shares of the bank ended 0.77 per cent down on BSE and 1.5 per cent lower on NSE.

Net intrigue income of the moneylender remained level at Rs 4,731 crore amid the quarter under survey. Net intrigue edge for Q4FY18 remained at 3.33 per cent. NII for FY18 propelled 3 per cent YoY to Rs 18,618 crore from Rs 18,093 crore amid FY17. Net intrigue edge for FY18 came at 3.44 per cent.
