Lakshadweep: Lakshadweep police had registered a sedition case against local resident and filmmaker Ayesha Sultana last Thursday. He is alleged to have called Praful Patel a bio-weapon. Ayesha has now approached the Kerala High Court for anticipatory bail. Several local BJP leaders have resigned from the party following allegations against Ayesha.

An FIR was lodged against filmmaker Ayesha on sedition charges when she called Praful Patel a bio-weapon being used by the Centre on the people of the island in a TV debate. A case under Section 124A of the IPC (Sedition) was registered against Ayesha at Kavaratti police station on the complaint of C Abdul Khadar Haji, head of BJP's Lakshadweep unit.

In fact, protests have been growing in the Union Territory of Lakshadweep over the past few days. This is attributed to the changes made by Union Territory Administrator Praful Patel and Ayesha has been consistently raising her voice against it. However, 15 BJP leaders and workers from Lakshadweep have resigned from the party after she was charged.
