Ayush Ministry gets Rs 3,050 cr in Budget 2022

NEW DELHI: The Ayush Ministry received a significant boost in this year's budget allocation, with Rs 3,050 crore set up for the ministry. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman delivered the Budget 2022-23 on Tuesday.

According to a statement from the ministry, the financial allocation will assist Ayush in upgrading its hospitals and dispensaries, supporting medical plant production, and many other areas, including increasing exports of value-added medicinal plant products. From Rs 29.6 crore, the budget allocation for the Champion Services Sector Scheme has been enhanced to Rs 60.22 crore.

The Global Centre for Traditional Medicine (GCTM-WHO) in India is being established, and budgetary provisions have been made for its construction, due to the strength of Ayurveda, Yoga, and other traditional Indian systems of medicine. According to the Ministry, the establishment of the WHO (GCTM) in India will have a direct impact on investment in India's traditional medicine sector and will enable the country emerge as a global leader through concerted efforts.

The budget also included Rs 1,870.1 crore for research councils, centres of excellence, and autonomous entities, according to the ministry.
