Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan has landed into new controversy as he said he is ready to demolish the iconic Taj Mahal.

 He also asked Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to take the lead. He claimed that Adityanath had said Taj Mahal was a temple of lord Shiva. Further Khan asserted that he was willing to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader in destroying the same.

In an interview with news agency ANI, the Samajwadi Party leader stated, “I was told by Yogi ji and others that Taj Mahal is actually a temple of lord Shiva. So for the Shiva temple to become a Shiva temple, I being a Muslim am saying that am willing to take around 20,000 others with rods and axes and walk along with Yogi Ji.”

 Worth mention here in March, the Hindu Mahasabha had published a calendar wherein The iconic Taj Mahal named as ‘Tejo Mahalay Shiv Mandir’. The calendar also had referred Qutub Minar as Vishnu Stambh and Kashi's Gyanvyapi mosque as Vishwanath temple.

On a related note the calendar was published by the Aligarh unit of Hindu Mahasabha.

 In addition  There are several monument including Qutub Minar and Taj Mahal, Madhya Pradesh's Kamal Maula Mosque was termed Bhojshala and Jaunpur's Atala mosque was named 'Atla Devi temple'.

And the most controversial Babri Masjid which demolished in 1992 was called as Ram Janmabhoomi.
