Lucknow: A scheduled caste BA student committed suicide by consuming poison after an objectionable picture went viral on social media in UP's Saharanpur. On the suicide note, two youths from another community living in the neighbourhood are said to be responsible for her death. On the complaint of the deceased's mother, the police have filed a report against the accused under relevant sections. The woman, a resident of Mohalla Majri in Behat police station area, has said that her daughter was a BA student. It is alleged that two youths from another cast living in the neighbourhood, Waseem and Saleem, had fraudulently taken objectionable pictures of her daughter and started blackmailing her when her daughter did not listen to them, they made the picture viral on social media.

On Thursday night, her daughter came to know that the photo had gone viral. She went to Kotwali to take action against the accused. It is alleged that the police have not heard them. Hurt by this, her daughter committed suicide by consuming poison on Thursday night. She was found dead on Friday morning.

They have also cremated the body of the student due to the fear of public opinion. After which she found a letter from her books, in which her daughter has mentioned the neighbouring youths responsible for her death. On Saturday afternoon, the deceased's mother reached Behat Kotwali with a suicide note written before the death of her daughter and lodged a complaint against the two youths. The police have registered a report against the accused youths Waseem and Saleem. Based on the complaint given by the student's mother, a report has been lodged against the two accused youths, Waseem and Saleem. Efforts are being made to take them into custody. Why the police did not act on Thursday night is also being investigated.
