Napier: Pakistan captain Babar Azam and opening batsman Imam-ul-Haq will not be able to play in the first Test match against New Zealand due to injury. Due to this, the selection committee has included young Imran Butt in the 17-member team. The first Test match between these two teams will begin on December 26 in Mount Maunganui.

Please tell that Babur Azam's right thumb is hurt, while Imam ul Haq's left hand has a thumb injury. He was injured during a practice session in Queenstown last week. According to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), both batsmen have not yet returned to the nets and the medical team is keeping a close watch on their fitness. The PCB further stated that 'His participation in the second Test match in Christchurch starting on 3 January will be decided later.'

In Babar's absence, wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizan will lead Pakistan in the first Test match. He will be the 33rd Test captain of the country. Pakistan made a disappointing start to their tour. He has lost the first 2 matches of the series of 3 T20 Internationals. The last T20 match will be played on 22 December followed by a series of 2 Test matches.
