New Delhi: Former Union Minister Babul Supriyo on Tuesday officially resigned as a Lok Sabha MP. Babul Supriyo became emotional while resigning. The former BJP MP said after his resignation that his heart is heavy. Babul Supriyo also mentioned PM Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Babul Supriyo quit the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC) a few days ago. After meeting Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Babul Supriyo thanked PM Modi and BJP High Command and said that he was given an important role when he was in the party and thanked the party leaders for it. Talking to reporters here, Babul Supriyo said, 'My heart is heavy. I started my political journey through the BJP. I thank the Prime Minister, the Party President and Amit Shah for showing confidence in me.'

Babul Supriyo had joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in September. However, while parting ways with the BJP, Babul Supriyo had pointed out that he would not go to any political party. But later Babul Supriyo had said that his friends and others told him that his decision to quit politics was wrong.
