Chhatarpur: Acharya Dhirendra Shastri, the Katha Vachak of Bageshwar Dham, has been embroiled in controversies regarding one of his statements. In a video surfaced on social media, Acharya Dhirendra Krishna Shastri is heard saying that Sant Tukaram's wife used to beat him with a stick everyday. The atmosphere in Maharashtra has heated up regarding this statement. People of Kunbi community in Maharashtra are very angry with this statement of Acharya Dhirendra Krishna Shastri. After the statement came out, the people of Kunbi community demonstrated in Pune and demanded the registration of a case against Acharya Dhirendra Krishna Shastri. 

However, Acharya Dhirendra Krishna Shastri has now apologized. Acharya Dhirendra Krishna Shastri said- I apologize with folded hands to those whose sentiments were hurt by my words. Saint Tukaram was a great saint. He is our role model. We had presented only one idea about his wife. I had read a story in which the wife of Saint Tukaram sent him to bring sugarcane. Later, when he was beaten with the same cane, it broke into two pieces. I just explained it from my point of view. People's sentiments have been hurt by my words. I apologize to everyone with folded hands. I take my words back

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Legislative Council member Amol Mitkari has asked Bageshwar Dham Sarkar Acharya Dhirendra Krishna Shastri to apologize or face "consequences" for his comments on 17th-century saint Tukaram, according to a report. Mitkari had said on Monday that if this fool does not know about the Warkari sect, then he should not speak. If he does not apologize, the Warkaris in Maharashtra will give him a befitting reply. Acharya Dhirendra Krishna should apologize, or get ready to face the consequences.
