Every year the festival of Baisakhi is celebrated in the month of April. It is also called an agricultural festival because farmers in Punjab and Haryana harvest their crops and gather around them in the evening time by a burning fire. They add new grains to the fire. In many parts of the country, the harvesting of crops starts from Baisakhi. This year Baisakhi festival is on Tuesday, April 13. On this day, Baisakhi is celebrated with pomp in many places of Punjab, Haryana, and North India. It is also celebrated as the New Year of the Sikhs.
Importance of Baisakhi: -
1. The 10th Guru of the Sikhs, Govind Singh Ji, founded the Khalsa Panth on 13 April 1699 on the day of Baisakhi. The goal of the Khalsa Panth is to protect religion and the well-being of society. For this reason, Baisakhi is very important for Sikhs. The Khalsa Panth was established at Sri Kesargarh Sahib Anandpur, so a special festival is celebrated here on Baishakhi.
2. Farmers reap their crops in Punjab and Haryana. Then congratulate each other on the day of Baisakhi. Wears new clothes and we celebrate In the evening, fire burns and stand on all four sides. Bhangra and Gidda do it there.
3. Baisakhi is also called Aries Sankranti. On this day, Sun God enters Aries. The Sun also has good or bad effects on the 12 zodiac signs when entering Aries.
4. Baisakhi also has its own importance in Bengal as Baisakhi is considered to be the first day of the Bengali calendar. On this day, people celebrate and do Holy works. This day is considered auspicious.
5. Bihu festival is celebrated on the day of Baisakhi in Assam.
6. On the day of Baisakhi, a new age begins. A new Samvat begins on the Pratipada of the Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month. It is called the first day of the Hindu New Year.
7. According to mythological beliefs, it was on this day that Brahma Ji created the universe.
