78-year-old Bakshish Singh passes away, won 200 gold medals

There are many people who say, it is difficult to do anything in old age, but 78-year-old athlete Baksheesh Singh proves them wrong. He has achieved a different position by completing 1500 meters during the Master Athletics Championship. He won gold medal and he could not bear the happiness of his victory and said goodbye to the world due to heart attack. His exploits and principles are always going to live in people's hearts. He was a resident of Jallowal village in Hoshiarpur and he used to say, "Die with illness is not death, but sacrificing life for the country or taking last breath in the playground is the real death for me."

His words became the truth of his life. He started running in the year 1982 and in 1982 while running for the Hoshiarpur team, he stepped into the world of sports. His friend SP Sharma recently told that, "Bakhshish Singh was in the army and after retirement he also did teaching. He was a good player in the 800 meters, 1500 meters, and 5000 meters race and he had won more than 200 medals till now, People used to call him 'Golden Man'."

Bakhshish Singh's brother Balwinder Singh is a retired US police inspector and he said, "Bakhshish was fond of running since childhood." His wife is a retired teacher named, Gurmeet Kaur told, "Before going to the championship in Sangrur, he had said that he will return and sow wheat but destiny has planned something else for him."
