Varanasi: Pandit Rajan Mishra, the elder brother of the great classical singer of Banaras Gharana Bandhu Pandit Rajan-Sajan Mishra, passed away at a private hospital here on Sunday. It is learned that pandit Sajan Mishra, the younger brother of the same duo, is also infected with corona and is struggling for treatment. Pandit Rajan Mishra was 70 years old.

According to sources close to him, Pandit Rajan Mishra was suffering from corona and was admitted to St Stephen's Hospital in the capital today. He reportedly died of a heart attack late in the evening. Sources also revealed that his younger brother Pandit Sajan Mishra is also infected with corona. They were struggling to find beds in the same hospital till the last news was received. PM Modi has condoled his demise.

Pm Modi tweeted, "Deeply saddened by the death of Pandit Rajan Mishra Ji, who made an indelible mark in the world of classical singing. Mishraji, who belongs to the Banaras Gharana, is an irreparable loss to the art and music world. My thoughts are with his family and fans in this hour of mourning. Om Shanti!" BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda and Information Broadcasting Minister in the Central Government Prakash Javadekar have also condoled the death of Pandit Rajan Mishra.
