Bangalore Metro Service Disruptions on Sept 29 for Safety Inspections

Bangalore: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced temporary disruptions in metro services to facilitate statutory safety inspections on the newly extended metro line from Kengeri to Challaghatta. On September 29, metro train services on the Kengeri to Mysuru Road route will experience partial suspensions. Furthermore, the entire stretch between Krishnarajapura (KR Pura) and Garudacharpalya will be suspended throughout the day.

However, regular metro services will continue between Garudacharpalya and Whitefield (Kadugodi). Passengers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly on this day to avoid inconvenience.

It's worth noting that the Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) has granted approval for the launch of the 2.1 km KR Pura – Byappanahalli section of the Purple Line. This new metro stretch is expected to open to the public in the first week of October. The BMRCL officials have indicated that the Purple Line's inauguration will follow the fulfillment of certain requirements outlined by the CMRS.

The CMRS conducted a thorough safety inspection on September 21, scrutinizing all systems, physical structures, and facilities at the Benniganahalli metro station. Additionally, the much-anticipated 2 km Kengeri-Challaghatta section on the Purple Line of Namma Metro will undergo inspection on September 29.

Upon receiving safety clearance for both these metro links, the entire 43 km Purple Line of Namma Metro will become fully operational. Commercial operations on this metro line are set to commence simultaneously in early October, rather than in phases.
