Bengaluru: A man has been arrested on charges of placing a special religion banner on 8th-century philosopher Adi Shankaracharya's idol in Sriringeri, Karnataka. Police reported this time on Friday. The police has made it clear that the person who does such an act while drunk does not belong to any political party or organization and this work was not done consciously or for any purpose. The police said that the drunk person had come with a banner from a mosque and after that he put it on the gopuram built on the statue of Shankaracharya.

A case was filed against 4 suspects at the Shringeri police station on Thursday and it was alleged that 1 banner belonging to the SDPI / PFI organization was erected on the intervening night of August 12 and 13 above the idol of Shankaracharya in Veerappa Gowda circle. Gopuram has been installed. The Chikkamagaluru police said in a statement that the case is highly sensitive and tensions have arisen. A police team has been formed to investigate this case. The statement said that the video footage of CCTV cameras has been investigated.

The team questioned the suspects about this case and found that a person of about 28 years had committed this crime and he has been detained. In this statement, it has been said that during interrogation, the person admitted that he had done this job while drunk. According to the police, the man was completely intoxicated and did not know the consequences of what he was doing. Police said that during interrogation it was also found that this banner was not from any political party or organization.
