 Dhaka: A boat full of people sank in the Padma river in Bangladesh, killing four and leaving 11 people missing. The accident happened in the middle of the river. There were 50 people on board the boat. This incident happened on Wednesday afternoon in Shibganj Upazila of Chapainwab Ganj, Bangladesh. 20 people have been rescued safely. Relief and rescue operations are on. The relief work was stopped at 6.30 pm due to darkness. An official said that the rescue work would be resumed on Thursday morning.

At least 20 people were rescued alive. The rest were not rescued until the evening. The rescue operation was stopped around 6.30 p.m. due to darkness. An official said the rescue operation will resume on Thursday morning. The boat was on the way to Dasarshia Ghat from Pakar Boglauri.

Sacks of potatoes, brinjal and coconut were loaded in this boat going from Dasarshia Ghat to Boglari. Apart from this, many cycles were also on the boat. Passengers objected to this but the boat owners ignored and eventually the boat sank due to overloading. Four dead have been identified

The four deceased have been identified as Nilufa Begum, 50, wife of Khairul Islam of Bisharshia village, Maisha Khatun, 5, daughter of Babu Ali of Narayanpur in Sadar Upazila, Asmaul, 5, and Ayesha, 3, children of Fitu of Sadar Upazila.
