DHAKA: Bangladesh is trying to strengthen its squad in order to fulfill their World Cup goals as the important 50-over competition approaches.

In the just completed ICC Cricket World Cup Super League, Bangladesh stood out, finishing third with 155 points, equal to England in second place but behind on net run rate, according to the ICC.

Bangladesh appears to be in a good position for a strong showing at the World Cup in conditions that will be comparable to those at home, with momentum high as ever in the 50-over format.

The Tigers will host Afghanistan in an all-format trip that includes three one-day internationals. A dress rehearsal for the World Cup will also be held for the Asia Cup in September.

Nazmul Hassan, the president of the BCB, discussed the various lineup options, including the potential inclusion of Mahmudullah, who was absent from both the home and away games of the ODI series against Ireland in March and May, respectively.

Hassan remarked, "We'll play an extra batter if we want to play with five bowlers." Yasir Ali Rabbi is presently a member of the squad. Afif Hossain, Mahmudullah, and Mosaddek Hossain are examples of those who aren't in the squad but might still be selected at any time.

"In the event that we are using five bowlers, we will need an all-rounder. At the end of the day, I have no idea what Nannu (Abedin), the BCB Chief Selector, will do. The last time Mahmud Ullah played for Bangladesh in an ODI was in March against England. The last time Mahmud Ullah played for Bangladesh in an ODI was in March against England.

Considering that the top six players namely captain Tamim Iqbal, Litton Das, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Towhid Hridoy, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Shakib Al Hasan -- pick themselves, depending on the lineup there may be a rush for a slot for a batting all-rounder.
