New Delhi: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh  has called the Bangladesh Liberation War a "unique event" in twentieth-century history.

Rajnath Singh said , "It was a moral battle against oppression, injustice, and crimes. Ordinary people were mutilated and slaughtered mercilessly. The world's conscience was awakened by Operation Searchlight's heinous acts." At the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi, the minister paid glowing tribute to 'Bangabandhu' Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, saying that the inspiring leadership of Bangladesh's first President was a guiding light for the country's people in their quest for independence. "Bangabandhu's ideas are the bedrock of a gleaming Bangladesh slowly progressing on its development road," he said.

On the occasion of Bangladesh's Armed Forces Day, Singh paid a visit to the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi. The Bangladesh High Commission organised the event. On behalf of the Indian Armed Forces, Singh complimented the Bangladeshi Armed Forces and wished them all the best in their efforts to achieve peace and security.
