New Delhi [India], Feb 10: Roshen Silva's dependable innings helped Sri Lanka long the lead before the visitors struck twice to leave Bangladesh with an uphill task on Day 3 of the second Test in Dhaka on Saturday (February 10). Sri Lanka's second innings came to an end at 226, with Silva scoring an unbeaten 70, to set the hosts a hefty target of 339. Bangladesh lost both their openers before Lunch to go into the break at 57 for 2.

The hosts suffered an early jolt in the mammoth chase when Tamim Iqbal fell as early as the second over, leg-before to Dilruwan Perera with the review failing to come to his aid. Mominul Haque and Imrul Kayes managed a few boundaries between them although both had edgy starts with the latter being put down by Dimuth Karunaratne at first slip to deny Perera a wicket. Mominul too was put down by Karunaratne, off Rangana Herath, with the ball deflecting off the Niroshan Dickwella's pads. The ball journeying around the slip cordon was a regular feature in the Bangladesh innings.

Brief scores: Sri Lanka 222 & 226 (Roshen Silva 70, Dimuth Karunaratne 32; Taijul Islam 4-36) lead Bangladesh 110 & 69/3 (Mominul Haque 33; Rangana Herath 2-25) by 270 runs.
