Dhaka: During the Hindu festival of Durga Puja, the Navratri pandals in Bangladesh began to be attacked and idols of Hindu deities were demolished, pandals demolished, then temples were attacked. The Muslim mob then started a series of killings of Hindus and raped of their sisters and daughters. On the issue, Bangladesh Home Minister Asaduzzaman has said that the attacks on Durga Puja pandals were pre-planned.

He said that the attacks were already plotted to break the communal peace of the country. Police have registered a case against 4000 accused in connection with the violence that has been going on for the past week. Bangladesh Home Minister said that an attempt has been made to create communal tension in Cumilla, Ramu and Nasirnagar. However, the attacks are still continuing. The BJP has also said that violence and brutality against minorities in such a systematic manner shows how important it is to implement CAA and NRC in West Bengal. Bangladesh Home Minister has assured strict punishment on the basis of evidence. 

More than a dozen people are said to have been killed in the latest violence. Manik Saha was killed at Hajiganj in Chandpur. In Addition to Nimai Krishna, another priest, 3 priests of Ram Thakur Ashram, 26-year-old Prashant Das in Cumilla and one person were killed at Ramu Durga Temple in Cox's Bazar. According to information provided by the Bangladesh chapter of the World Hindu Federation (WHF), 17 Hindus are missing so far. The Bangladesh chapter of WHF has also reported that a total of 23 Hindu women/girls have been raped so far.
