CHENNAI: The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), an umbrella organisation for multiple bank unions, had decided to go on a two-day strike starting on January 30 to push for their different demands, a top All India Bank Employees' Association official said.
The decision was made at the meeting of Forum of Bank Unions on Thursday in Mumbai.Â
"Today's UFBU meeting took place in Mumbai. Since there is no response from Indian Banks' Association (IBA) on our demands despite letters, it has been decided to revive our agitation and to give a call for strike on January 30 and 31," All India Bank Employees' Association General Secretary C.H. Venkatachalam said.
He said that the strike is being held to press for the following demands: five days of banking, pension updates, resolution of outstanding issues, the elimination of the National Pension System (NPS), the immediate opening of negotiations on the charter of demands for wage revision, and sufficient hiring across all cadres.
