New Delhi:-  According to distributor Warner Bros., the Barbie movie is the biggest movie of the year so far in the United States and Canada. The company said it made an estimated $155 million (£120 million) in its opening weekend.

Meanwhile, Oppenheimer's new film, which also hit theaters on Friday, grossed $93.7 million (£72 million) at the US box office, Universal Pictures said. The feature was introduced at a time when cinemas as a whole are struggling in the face of competition from streaming.  

Vue, meanwhile, said both films were shown in the UK, and the cinema chain enjoyed its busiest weekend in four years. The View, which operates 91 cinemas across the UK and Ireland, said Greta Gerwig's 'Barbie' is set to overtake 'Super Mario Bros.' to become the biggest movie of 2023, enjoying the biggest weekend in four years and the second-most-attended weekend ever.

According to the company, his two films have brought half a million people to his Vue screens, and the Barbie doll has sold out his 4,000 copies in the UK and Ireland. Vue added that Barbie doll's most popular locations include Cambridge, Glasgow St Enoch, Leeds Kirkstall, Bolton, Islington, and Bolton in London.

Oppenheimer's plot focuses on the development of the first atomic bomb, starring Cillian Murphy and directed by Christopher Nolan. Meanwhile, Barbie tells the coming-of-age story of a child character as she explores her own identity and encourages her boyfriend, Ken, to develop his personality.

Both films were released on Friday, and social media dubbed their rivalry "Barbenheimer." Opening weekend sales of Barbie, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, surpassed the opening weekend of blockbuster Super Mario Bros., making Barbie the biggest movie of 2023 so far.

The debut Barbie doll grossed her US$337 million (£293 million) worldwide. One user on Twitter said that for years he hadn't felt like going to the cinema to see a movie, but the Barbie doll made it happen. She said the piece "will remain an enduring masterpiece for years to come. Ideas are truly eternal."

Ahead of the film's release, Britain's Odeon announced that more than 200,000 advance tickets had been purchased, with around 10,000 cinema-goers expected to see both the Barbie and Oppenheimer films over the opening weekend.

Meanwhile, in the UK, Vue Cinema reported on Friday that pre-orders for Barbie dolls were "higher than any other blockbuster released this year." Friday's attendance was the highest Friday since the pandemic and the third-busiest Friday in the chain's history. Oppenheimer had earned £8.05 million in Britain and Ireland as of Friday, according to Universal Pictures.

Furthermore, Oppenheimer added that he is expected to get off to a better start in the first three days than Christopher Nolan's other blockbusters, including the space-themed "Interstellar," the war thriller "Dunkirk," and the sci-fi hit "Inception."

In early July, the stars prematurely left the premiere of "Oppenheimer," citing a strike, citing dissatisfaction with Hollywood movie production and the intrusion of artificial intelligence into screenplays.

According to Universal Pictures, the film grossed US$93.7 million (£75 million) at the international box office, with a worldwide gross of US$174.2 million (£135 million).

The movie Barbie and Oppenheimer had great impact on the theaters and also the Barbie made a great revenue all over the World with whopping 337 Million Dollar and Oppenheimer made 172.2 Million Dollar.
