New Delhi: There is constant speculation about if Virat Kohli will join the ODI series to be played on the tour of South Africa. Media reports claim that Virat Kohli has sought a break from BCCI but now the board has clarified the issue. BCCI says there has been no official request from Virat Kohli for a break from the ODI series so far.

According to a BCCI official, 'Virat Kohli has not yet given any official request, neither Sourav Ganguly nor Jai Shah has received any such information. But if something is decided later or an injury occurs, it's the latter.' The official said that as of now, Virat Kohli is playing all three ODI matches in South Africa. India is scheduled to play a Test series in South Africa from December 26, in which Virat Kohli will be present and lead the team. The three-match ODI series is scheduled to begin on January 19 after the Test series is over.

Reports that have surfaced so far claimed that Virat Kohli has demanded a break from the ODI series. This is because January is Virat's daughter Vamika's birthday, so he wants to spend time with his family. Virat's daughter's birthday is on January 11, when Virat will be playing his third Test match and wanted a break after the Test series.
