The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday discussed the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19) with the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise owners at the board headquarters in Mumbai and its impact on the upcoming season. After the meeting, BCCI secretary Jai Shah issued a press release saying that all the teams and the board are concerned about the fans and players. The meeting between the BCCI and IPL team owners was discussed to shorten this season of the tournament. According to BCCI sources, six-seven options were discussed during this meeting, including the option of a smaller tournament.

These changes can happen if IPL will happen this time

According to media reports, in the meeting held in Mumbai, there was a discussion on organizing IPL matches in two to three states so that players do not have to travel much. Cuts in IPL matches were also discussed. It was said in this meeting that if the need arises, the tournament can be organized without foreign players. As with all IPL franchises, the BCCI has reiterated the BCCI's stance keeping in mind the safety and welfare of fans, athletes and employees as a priority.

The IPL 2020 was to start from 29 March 2020 but has been postponed due to the ban on the coronavirus and visas of foreigners.
