Mumbai: After a long tussle, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had agreed to the NADA Test. Leaning to the pressure of the Sports Ministry, the Board was ready for the NADA test. But the BCCI had put a condition for it. As per the condition, NADA will start testing the register of players from the BCCI during the next match of the Dilip Trophy in Bengaluru. NADA has accepted BCCI's demand to hire qualified doctors as major dope control officers.

"Our main concern was the time taken to deal with the merits of dope control officers and for disposal of cases," the BCCI's anti-doping official said on the issue of "additional payment" to ensure high standards. NADA has given us a fill-up about both. We had urged that the dope control officers to be appointed for the BCCI should be accredited doctors (MBBS) who are aware of doping. "DCO, if there is a doctor, will pay extra and BCCI will pay it, which has been cleared by Chief Executive Officer Rahul Johri.

BCCI General Manager Sabah Karim and Head of Anti Doping Unit Dr Abhijit Salvi met senior NADA officials to discuss further strategy, which included Director General Naveen Agarwal. "We are looking to start this partnership with the Dilip Trophy at the earliest," NADA said after the meeting. The BCCI's decision was also welcomed by Sports Minister Kiran Rijiju.
