New Delhi: In Bengaluru on February 7 and 8, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is to hold a major auction for the IPL 2022 season. All the teams had already announced their retention list on November 30 last month. The next season of the Indian Premier League is expected to be held in India. Several franchises have expressed dissatisfaction with the mega auction, which will likely be the last mega auction in the existence of IPL.

According to BCCI information, if the corona situation remains under control, a major auction could be held on February 7 and 8. We are considering holding the next big auction in Bengaluru, a BCCI official said. He then said, "If the corona situation is right, the IPL will have a mega auction on February 7 and 8.'' Two new franchises will be competing in the next IPL season. Lucknow and Ahmedabad will also be included in the IPL this season along with the remaining eight teams.

After the rest of the teams' retentions, Lucknow and Ahmedabad will also share the list of three players at the earliest. Former Zimbabwe captain and England coach Andy Flower has been named coach of the new team Lucknow, while former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir has been named the mentor of the team. This time the auction is considered to be very attractive. Chennai Super Kings, led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, had clinched the last IPL season. Moreover, players like Suresh Raina and Dwayne Bravo will be in the eye during the auction.
