At present, the third wave of corona virus continues to wreak havoc in India. In India the virus has spread to cricket and other sports. Due to which, important tournaments like Ranji Trophy and CK Nayudu Trophy had to be postponed by the Board of Cricket in India (BCCI). The rapidly increasing cases of corona in India have put BCCI in trouble. The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 event in India may also be in danger. In such a situation, BCCI has started working on Plan B, as it was done in the last two seasons.

According to sources, the BCCI can host the IPL in South Africa or Sri Lanka. Because in 2009, due to the Lok Sabha elections, the IPL was organized in South Africa. According to a BCCI official, "We cannot rely on UAE all the time, so we have decided to examine alternative options." India is 3 hours 30 minutes ahead of South Africa in terms of time. If broadcasters stick to their chosen prime time starting time of 7.30 pm, the first ball of the match will be bowled in South Africa at 4 pm. Players have often complained about IPL games ending late at night throughout the years. Due to frequent flight travel and endless match scheduling, players have little time to rest and recover.

The host South African Cricket Board has planned to stay in big hotels and resorts for Team India, which is very pleased with BCCI. Since the resumption of sports in times of pandemic, there have been concerns about the mental health of athletes, as they have been living in a bio-bubble for a long time. Because there are ten teams in the IPL this year, season 15 will be the longest season ever.
