NEW DELHI: Lt Governor VK Saxena has urged Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to take cognizance of the 'baseless' letter written by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, and also "misleading" statements made by other Aaam Admi party leader leaders.

The L-G penned the following letter to Kejriwal on Friday: "Please take cognizance of the unfounded letter of Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and the false claims made by numerous leaders of your party. I regret that, in addition to exceeding all bounds of decency, you and your accomplices continually evade your constitutional obligations and responsibilities of governing. Regrettably, when I informed you of these problems and requested a remedy while carrying out my constitutional duties, you and your colleagues did not reply, misled the public about the concerns, and instead frequently levelled false personal charges. I would like to remind you that the topics I wrote to you about were all connected to the welfare and effective government of Delhi's common residents. It goes without saying that it is my responsibility as Delhi's Constitutional Guardian to be accessible to the public at all times and to do my best to appropriately address their concerns.

In his letter, Saxena elaborated on a total of 11 issues and stated that "all these works are directly related to you and the departments under you. Sadly, instead of responding appropriately to all of these concerns or taking appropriate action, you and your party members have turned to defamatory, unfounded, and false accusations against the person who brought them up in order to draw attention away from the real problems.

"In the same series, I have already responded to the accusations made against the MCD about the toll tax by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and your other colleagues. Upon taking notice, a thorough report on the circumstances surrounding this occurrence was requested from the responsible officers. Reading the factual report I had requested revealed that the corporation had terminated the contract by taking appropriate legal action against the agency due to the agency's failure to make the required deposit on time. The necessary steps are also being taken to recover the outstanding debts owed to the agency. Additionally, it has been made aware that numerous cases pertaining to this issue are still pending at the Supreme Court, High Courts in Delhi and Bombay, the National Company Law Tribunal, and the District Court in Tis Hazari, Delhi.

"I want to repeat that neither I nor the residents of Delhi have yet gotten a sufficient response from you on issues pertaining to their daily lives. I sincerely hope that you will take this communication from me as the "Letter of Duty" from the Guardian of Delhi that you are mistakenly referring to as a "Love Letter," and that you would heed the sentiments and suggestions it contains. Finally, I would want to restate that my devotion is only to the Indian Constitution and the people of Delhi, and I shall carry on working under this motivation.
