Dubai: Over false sex abuse claims made against his father by a 22-year-old woman, a British son reportedly self-harmed.

When Eleanor Williams falsely accused businessman Mohammed Ramzan of leading an Asian grooming gang, a British court found her guilty of perverting justice and sentenced her to eight and a half years in prison.

The 22-year-old made false accusations and claims of rape and abuse against Ramzan and other men in a Facebook post. She claimed to have suffered injuries, which were depicted in graphic detail in the social media post.

Ramzan and Jordan Trengove, another innocent man who fell victim to the woman's accusations, were reportedly driven to the verge of suicide, according to a report in the Daily Mail on Tuesday.

Ramzan, a father of four, discussed the suffering his family has endured as a result of the false accusations in an interview with 5 News. He disclosed how he witnessed his son self-harming one evening and mentioned that he had nearly killed himself.

Ramzan was quoted in the media as explaining to TV journalist Dan Walker how he discovered his son slicing his arms.

We were all helping each other to stay strong, but we weren't disclosing anything about how it was affecting, so when I went to the toilet, his room was right next to mine. There were lights on, so I walked in, and you saw your son.

Williams falsely accused the 43-year-old businessman of grooming her since she was 12 years old, forcing her to work in Amsterdam brothels, and attempting to sell her.

And there came a time when my sons wanted to leave and I said, "No, we're not," the father was reportedly quoted as saying.

And when I turned to face him, my son said, "You know, Dad, you're known as a paedo. Everywhere on social media, people proclaim, "My friends, this is a terrible town. Why did you move us here?"

Ramzan continued by relating how he once attempted to cut his neck by smashing a bottle in front of his family and a friend, who intervened by grabbing his hand.

The accused also told the police about being taken to Blackpool, where she claimed Ramzan threatened her and forced her to have sex with men at various addresses.

Ramzan stated that his family would stay in Barrow, but he acknowledged that he was concerned about the fact that far-right sympathisers were still claiming that Williams' claims were accurate on social media.

In an effort to "move forward," the family has decided to launch a campaign to alter the UK's social media laws. They are also considering establishing a foundation.

Ramzan also intends to file a lawsuit against the Home Office and the police for the suffering the investigation gave him.
