New Delhi: On the one hand, there is talk of promoting EV means an electric vehicle, on the other hand, the incidents of fire in electric vehicles have shocked the people. For the past few days, there is continuous news of the burning of electric vehicles in India. The worrying thing is that two people have also died due to this. The electric vehicles that caught fire include electric scooters from Ola and electric scooters from Okinawa. The government has ordered an inquiry. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has talked about the steps to be taken after the fire in Ola and Okinawa electric scooters.

Incidents of exploding smartphones are also being seen for a long time. Smartphones of almost all small and big companies including Apple and Samsung explode from time to time. Is there a connection between a smartphone exploding and an electric vehicle burning? The connection is that Lithium-ion batteries are used in both electric vehicles and smartphones. Lithium-ion batteries in general explode or burn out for two reasons. Due to the way lithium-ion batteries work, the risk of bursting or burning remains to a certain extent.

The first is that there is a problem in making the battery itself, which can be called a manufacturing defect or there is some external reason behind the burning of the battery, which means the battery has been mishandled in some way. Lithium-ion battery whether it is installed in a smartphone or in an electric vehicle. The way they work is largely the same. These mainly consist of electrodes, electrolytes and separators. The work of all three is also different. The electrodes serve to store the lithium, while the electrolyte carries the lithium ions to the electrodes. The separator separates the positive electrodes and the negative electrodes from each other, which means that the two do not come in contact. Most of the time it has been found that Lithium-Ion batteries explode due to wrong construction. Apart from this, even if they are not synced properly with the software, this also happens, because if there is any problem in the working of the software, then due to this also the battery is at risk. Lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles use organic liquid electrolytes. Its weakness is that there is a danger of burning in them at high temperatures. There have been incidents of electric vehicle fire not only in India but also in other countries. Several big battery manufacturing companies have also been accused of supplying defective batteries that could have caused fires in electric vehicles.
