In view of increasing coronavirus, China implemented fresh restrictions. China has urged people not to leave the city during the upcoming Lunar New Year holidays. The nation reported two domestic cases on Friday, a convenience store worker and a Hewlett Packard Enterprise employee. Another two asymptomatic cases were discovered in Beijing earlier in the week.

China is conducting testing on a limited scale in the neighbourhoods and workplaces where the cases were found. The government has cancelled big gatherings such as sports events and temple fairs. It says applications will be strictly reviewed for any major events. It also urged companies not to arrange business trips outside the city or foreign countries.

Meanwhile,  India reported 22,273 new Covid-19 cases in the 24 hours ending 8 am Saturday, taking the coronavirus infections tally over 1.01 crore. Of the total 1,01,69,118 cases, over 2.81 lakh are currently active while over 97.40 lakh people have recovered after testing positive. As many as 251 new fatalities were reported, the lowest since June 2. With this the death toll now stands at 1.47,343 lakh.
