Ben Stokes will be seen captaining the first match of the first International Cricket Series during Coronavirus crisis. Ben Stokes, an all-rounder who never led the team at the senior level and won the World Cup, was appointed as the captain of England on Tuesday for the first Test match against the West Indies. He has been made the captain in place of Joe Root, who will not be able to play in the first test match due to the birth of his child. Root's wife Carrie is going to be a mother this week and wants to stay in the hospital at the time of the birth of her second child. Root will leave the team's camp on Wednesday.

Ben will represent the England national team for the first time. He has so far taken 147 wickets in addition to scoring 4056 runs in 63 Tests for England. In addition, Stokes has also played 95 ODIs and 26 T20 Internationals, but he has not captained the first-class, List A or T20 matches so far. In this way, he will become the least experienced captain in England's cricket history.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said in a statement, 'All-rounder Ben Stokes, who has been with Root since July last year, will represent the team in the first Test match in Southampton. Jose Butler has been appointed as Deputy Captain along with Stokes. He has also played this role in the past with Root and is a vice-captain in the limited-overs team with Oyen Morgan'. The first Test match between England and West Indies will begin on July 8 in Southampton. Butler will serve as vice-captain along with Stokes. The ECB said that after returning from the hospital, Root would keep himself in seclusion for seven days and join the team before the second Test in Manchester from 13 July. The second Test match will start from July 16. On Tuesday, all the players and management officials of England were also found negative in the third round investigation. The team is preparing for the Test series against Southendon starting next week in Southampton.
