Kolkata: A dead snake was found in the mid-day meal served to students at a school in West Bengal's Birbhum district, police said on Sunday. After eating this food, many children have fallen ill and have been admitted to the hospital. Thirty students of a school in the Mayureshwar block of Birbhum district fell ill after consuming this food. After this, when the food was examined, a dead snake was found in it. The food preparation staff has also confirmed this. The staff has said that the dead snake was found in the containers in which the food was kept.
The school staff said that after the students fell ill, they have been admitted to Rampur Haat Medical College for treatment. After eating the food, the children started vomiting, after which they were taken to the hospital. BDO Dipanjan Jana told reporters that it was reported by many villagers that many children had fallen ill after eating food. He told that after getting the information, we informed the District Inspector of Primary Schools. He is reaching the spot to investigate.
However, fortunately, all the children are currently out of danger and have been discharged from the hospital after treatment. Only one student is still in the hospital, who is undergoing treatment. Meanwhile, a police official said that after the incident, the family members of the students surrounded the headmaster and broke his bike. However, after the intervention of the police, the parents were persuaded and sent back home.
