Kolkata: The attack on doctors at Kolkata Medical College in West Bengal led to rage among doctors across the country. Government and private doctors from across the country including Delhi AIIMS have been urged to join the one day strike on Friday. The Delhi AIIMS's RDA has since announced the day-long strike. This will also affect emergency services besides OPD. Raipur AIIMS also announced to join the strike on Thursday evening.

As per the information received from the sources, the Delhi Medical Association has written to private and government hospitals, clinics and nursing homes in the national capital and appealed to support the countrywide medical bandh. The President of the Association and the secretary of the Delhi Medical Council have said that law and order has been blown up in West Bengal. A doctor sits 15 to 16 hours in hospital with fewer resources to treat up to 500 patients from 300, but the doctor is subjected to beatings.

With this, he said, the attack on doctors at Kolkata Medical College is alarming for the medical sector. The chairman of AIIMS RDA said that doctors are on strike in West Bengal.
