The renowned Bengal safari Park located in the outskirts of Siliguri, West Bengal and other 12 zoological parks of the state were opened this Friday for the visitors. The forest department has made a decision to allow the visitors to zoos which were prohibited as a COVID-19 guideline for the past six months. The department is more concerned about the health and safety measures of the visitors, its employees and the wild life in the Zoo.

Badal Debnath, Director, Bengal Safari told, “We are taking all necessary health safety measures following the COVID-19 guidelines along with all our regulation routine works. We are sanitizing all vehicles at the entry gates and then allowing visitors in the park by maintaining physical distance. We have resumed herbivore, tiger and leopard and beer safaris for the visitors. But we have not yet started elephant safari keeping in mind physical distance”. The staffs and the others in touch with the park are happy for the reopening. One of the frequent visitor on the reopening said, the park and department authorities are taking a good initiative to combat COVID-19 pandemic situation at the park. He added everyone who comes here are safe and are enjoying the nature. The park authorities allow only 12 passengers in a bus whose seating capacity is 24 to maintain the social distancing.

Bengal Safari park covers a wide area of 700 acres of forest land. It was inaugurated by the Bengal Chief minister Mamata Banerjee in the year 2016. Tiger safari, mixed herbivore safari, Leopard safari and Asiatic black bear safari. It also contains aviary trail, lesser cats trail, gharials and crocodile ponds.
