New Delhi: The Supreme Court has reserved its verdict on the petition of Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader SK Supian in connection with the violence that broke out in West Bengal after the assembly elections. A petition was filed on behalf of Supiyan in the apex court challenging the order of the Calcutta High Court, which had dismissed his anticipatory bail plea. Actually, Supian was the election agent of Mamta Banerjee from Nandigram assembly seat.

Earlier, during the hearing in the case on Monday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had protested against the petition of SK Supian. The CBI had told the top court that the post-poll violence was a well-planned political conspiracy. To bring out the reality of this, the petitioner SK Supian needs to be arrested and interrogated by custodial interrogation and there are sufficient reasons for this.

Let us inform that after the assembly elections in Bengal last year, there was large-scale violence and during this time many people were killed, as well as women were raped. The apex court had last week granted interim relief from arrest to Supian. Now the CBI has opposed his bail.
