Mumbai: A BEST bus collided with a dumper truck in Dadar, Mumbai on Wednesday. Eight persons were injured in the incident, out of which five are in critical condition. Three women passengers, drivers and conductors were among the injured. The incident took place this morning when a route number 22 bus was on its way from Marol to Pidhoni in south Mumbai.

 

CCTV footage shows a speeding BEST Bus colliding with a dumper truck at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road traffic signal around 7.15 am. A passenger standing at the door of the bus fell on the road when the collision took place while the other passengers jumped out. The official said all the eight injured passengers have been admitted to the municipal run Sion Hospital. Doctors at the hospital said that five injured including the bus driver, conductor and three passengers are in critical condition while the other three are in stable condition. BEST spokesperson Manoj Varde is yet to respond to the incident.

According to the 'Road Accidents in Maharashtra 2020' data, there were 1,812 road accidents in Mumbai, killing 349 people and seriously injuring 1,740 people, besides 443 minor injuries.
