On Sunday, the BET Awards took place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and it was definitely a night to remember. Proof right ahead.
BET Awards began with an act that wasn’t on the schedule Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar performing Freedom, the anthemic track from Beyonce’s album Lemonade. It was an intense, thoroughly choreographed performance, replete with flying sparks and smoke and a stage that looked convincingly like it was made of molten lava.
Tributes poured in for the legends we lost this year, from Prince to Muhammad Ali, and dozens of performances wowed. Stevie Wonder performed a medley of Take Me With U and Purple Rain during one of the tributes to Prince.
