Bengaluru: V Krishna Mohan, director of Bharat Biotech, said producing the anti-COVID vaccine Covaxin in "only 10 months" was an enormous task. He stated there were no vaccines when the Covid-19 hit India and the rest of the world when he spoke at the Bengaluru Tech Summit-2021 on Thursday.
"For the pharmaceutical industry and potential vaccine manufacturers, this was a difficult task. We only had ten months to build a vaccine to combat the infection, but we could develop Covaxin quickly and at a high level within those few months "he stated The central government took the appropriate procedures at the time, according to the Bharat Biotech Director. "There were no previous precedents," he continued, "and it appears impossible to develop a vaccine in such a short period of time." According to him, the corporation devised a strategy to manufacture and develop the vaccine in India.
V Krishna Mohan went on to say that it's difficult to measure the amount of effort that went into developing the vaccine, but that the company never compromised on the vaccine's quality or efficacy. He said that Bharat Biotech was successful in launching Covaxin in record speed, saving the lives of millions of Indians.
