MYSURU: Sonia Gandhi, the president of the Congress, and  the general secretary Priyanka Gandhi, are most likely to join Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra, which entered its fourth day on Monday in the southern Karnataka district.
Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are expected to arrive in Mysuru at midday and take a special jet to the airport there, source said.

To seek the Goddess' favour, both leaders would reach the Chamundeshwari Hills. Later, they would leave by helicopter to the highland station of Kodagu, where they would spend a few days relax.

Rahul Gandhi will also accompany them and spend time with them in Kodagu. The Vijaya Dashami (Navratri) celebrations in Karnataka would cause the Bharat Jodo Yatra to be suspended on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are expected to participate in the padayatra when it restarts on October 6. Priyanka Gandhi will take part in the padayatra on Thursday in Melukote town in the Mandya district, said Priyank Kharge, a Congress MLA and the head of the KPCC Media Cell.

He added that Sonia Gandhi will join the padayatra on that day if her health allowed her.

A.S. Ponnanna, a senior party official, has been tasked with keeping an eye on the visit of prominent Congressmen. Rahul  Gandhi would lodge in the Coorg Wilderness Resort in the Madikeri taluk's Megeri village. Security for the resort is being provided by the CRPF men.

This morning, the yatra entered Mandya district after passing through Chamarajanagar and Mysuru districts. Along with local Congress MLA Tanveer Sait, Rahul Gandhi paid a visit to the historic Saint Philomena's Church and the Ajam Mosque.

Jairam Ramesh, a Rajya Sabha member, tweeted on Monday: "Day 26 of the Bharat Jodo Yatra commenced at 6.30 am from the heart of old Mysuru. After the downpour of last night generated memorable sights." 

Rahul Gandhi and his accompanies will be walking 22 kilometers at a fast clip Monday to reach the endpoint 3 hours before the usual schedule of 4.30 pm.
