New Delhi: The Congress is scheduled to launch the Bharat Jodo Padyatra from September 7. The 150-day padyatra will start from Kanyakumari and end in Kashmir. During this time a distance of 3,500 kilometres will be covered. Congress Rajya Sabha MP Jairam Ramesh said "80 years ago, on this day, with the leadership and inspiration of Mahatma Gandhi, the Indian National Congress launched the 'Quit India' movement, which brought independence to our country after five years.

Now the Congress announces to start its 'Bharat Jodo' padyatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir from September 7, 2022. The entire yatra will pass through 12 states and two union territories as a padyatra. Setting a distance of 3,500 km, the padyatra will conclude in about 150 days. Congress leaders and workers, including Rahul Gandhi, will attend it. Jairam Ramesh further said that Congress urges all those who want to be part of this huge national effort to provide an alternative to change the circumstances of the politics of fear, bigotry and prejudice and livelihood destructive economics, rising unemployment and spreading inequalities to join this 'Bharat Jodo' yatra.

Recently, as part of the Azadi Ke Amrit Mahotsav, a Tiranga Yatra was taken out from Delhi's Red Fort to Parliament House via India Gate. All the MPs and ministers of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) participated in this yatra, but opposition MPs skipped the event.
