Bhartiya Skill Development University’s founder, Dr. Rajendra Kumar Joshi and the university’s Vice Chancellor were awarded at the European Association for International Education’s (EAIE) conference for their contributions to the field of education. The conference was organised in Helsinki, Finland from 24th to 27th September and around 6,000 delegates from 95 countries participated in the conference. Dr. Rajendra Kumar Joshi was awarded with the ‘Global Visionary Leader in Skill Education’ award, and Dr. (Brig.) Surjit Singh Pabla was presented with the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’.

Dr. Joshi started the Bhartiya Skill Development University (BSDU) in 2016 with the aim of developing India by providing skill education to the youth of the country. Dr. (Brig.) Pabla as the founding Vice Chancellor, took it upon himself to run the university smoothly and make sure that students get the best education. BSDU follows the Swiss-Dual-System which lets students spend one semester at university, and the other semester in the industry, where they get field training.

Dr. (Brig.) Surjit Singh Pabla, Vice Chancellor, Bhartiya Skill Development University, said, “It’s an extreme honour to have received this award by the EAIE. We have always promoted and stressed upon the importance of skill based educationbecause having a skilled workforce will not only help the country grow, but also help it survive through the worst of economic crises. Our students have been given an environment where they’re not just pushed towards academic excellence, but they’re also provided with the opportunities to gain practical knowledge and experience through internships. BSDU also follows the one student-one machine system, wherein each student gets one machine to learn on.”

Dr. (Brig.) Surjit Singh Pabla is himself a Mechanical Engineer with M.Tech and PhD from IIT Bombay. Dr. Pabla has been Vice Chancellor of five universities, Pro VC of one university and Director of two Institutes of Technology.  His experience in the Army, in addition to command of army units, also includes Engineering Professional work and Administration. With rich experience in multiple infrastructure projects, Academics and Academic Administration, Dr. Pabla aims to bring about a positive change in education system by offering students a dynamic education system in sync with industry.

Dr. Rajendra Joshi, founder and Chairman of RUJ Group in Rajasthan was one of those leading dreamers of the nation who bring reforms for development in the country. He completed his pharmacy degree from BITS Pilani and later moved to Switzerland for his PhD and joined as Research Associate and professor. He guided many students of PhD on parameters which could calculate the biological activity with molecular energy of a chemical structure.
