A jail break took place last night in the Bhopal Central Jail where 8 prisoners escaped the jail premises. The prisoners belonged to the banned terrorist group of Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). They also murdered a security guard and climbed the prison wall with the help of bed sheets.

“The incident happened around 2 a.m. The terrorists used blankets and bed-sheets. They overpowered the two officers in charge and then opened the locks,” Arvind Saxena, Superintendent of Police (SP) said. “The inmates made a rope with the help of bed sheets to jump over the walls. We have launched combing operations,” he added.

The security has been increased after this incident. But the Home-Minister of India, Rajnath Singh seems to be in a bad mood after this incidence, he has ordered the MP Government to provide a detailed report of the incidence.

Sanjay Choudhary the Director General of the Bhopal Central Jail said,” We have informed the local administration and police about the incident. In this regard, four officials of the jail have been suspended; including the Jail Superintendent. The ADG Jail has been directed to probe the security lapses. The security has been increased for other prisoners now. There will also be a high level committee to probe the incident.”

State Home Minister Bhupendra Singh has also insisted that the escaped terrorist would be arrested at the earliest.
