President Joe Biden has entered a crucial period to save his struggling reelection campaign. After a poor debate performance against Republican Donald Trump last week, Biden faces increasing pressure to prove he is capable of leading the country. Some financial supporters have paused or canceled fundraising events, indicating growing concerns about his viability as a candidate.

At a July Fourth barbecue at the White House, Biden assured the crowd, "I'm not going anywhere." Later, during the fireworks display, he stood with his family and Vice President Kamala Harris in a show of solidarity. Harris even raised Biden's hand in support.

During a meeting with Democratic governors, Biden acknowledged the need to get more rest and limit late-night events. California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who attended the meeting, described Biden's comments as lighthearted and emphasized the importance of being fit and rested for the job.

Biden stressed the high stakes of the election in an interview with a Wisconsin radio station, highlighting the impact on democracy, freedom, and the economy. This interview was part of a larger media blitz aimed at revitalizing his campaign.

At the July Fourth event, Biden greeted military families and addressed the crowd briefly, jokingly mentioning the need to go back inside due to security restrictions. Supporters encouraged him to "keep up the fight," to which he responded positively.

The president is set to campaign in Wisconsin and participate in a prime-time interview with ABC's George Stephanopoulos. He will also visit Philadelphia and hold a news conference during the NATO summit in Washington.

Despite discussions about potential replacements if Biden withdraws, he remains determined to continue his campaign. The Democratic National Committee has planned a virtual roll call for formal nomination ahead of the national convention in August.

Biden acknowledged his debate performance was poor, but he emphasized that it doesn't erase his accomplishments over the past three and a half years. In private conversations, he has focused on turning his campaign around and emphasized the critical importance of the upcoming election.

Biden's meeting with Democratic governors lasted over an hour and included discussions about his health and performance. The White House attributed his debate struggles to a cold and jet lag from recent trips. Despite calls for more detailed medical records, his doctor has declared him fit for duty.

Some Democratic lawmakers have called for Biden to drop out, while others are waiting to see how the situation unfolds. Vice President Harris is seen by some as a strong candidate to unify the party if Biden steps aside, with Governors Newsom and Whitmer also mentioned as potential alternatives.

Former President Trump has suggested a second debate with Biden, adding more pressure on the president during this critical time in his campaign.
