WASHINGTON: US President Joe Biden coughed all the way through his remarks at a bill-signing event outside the White House.

Biden’s prepared speech was interrupted several times behind the platform on the South Lawn as he was released from isolation on Sunday after testing negative for Covid-19 in a rebound case. He struggled to clear his throat on Tuesday morning, telling the audience, "I'm going to take another glass of water."

The President tested negative for the coronavirus on Monday and Tuesday morning, according to a statement the White House sent following the incident.

Cough is one of the symptoms that those who experience post-Covid conditions commonly report, as per researchers.

Biden tested positive for Covid-19 on July 21 despite being fully immunised and having received two booster shots. This resulted in days of isolation and treatment at the White House before test results came back negative.  On July 30, he tested positive once more, coughed somewhat, but he didn't start receiving treatment.

Biden was observed blowing his nose after finishing his address before members of Congress gathered to see him sign the technology legislation. Before introducing himself to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), he did not wash his hands. He then started mingling with the other lawmakers there.

During a briefing on storm damage in eastern Kentucky on Monday, Biden was also seen hacking, but on Tuesday the coughing was more noticeable.
