Haryana govt announces 75% reservation for local youth in private jobs

Chandigarh: The Haryana government has decided to reserve 75 percent seats for locals in private jobs.  The Haryana State Employment of Local Candidates Act, 2020' has been implemented across the state. State Governor Satyadev Narayan has given his approval to the law.

It provides for quota for local people in private sector jobs with monthly salary less than Rs 50,000. This quota will initially remain in force for 10 years and can be modified every two years. According to the law, companies violating it will also have to pay heavy fines. There is a provision to impose penalties ranging from 10,000 to 50,000 rupees on companies. At the same time, the penalty can be increased to two lakhs.

The law covers private companies, societies, trusts, partnership firms in the state. The Bill provides for training of qualified local candidates in case eligible people are not available. A person's place of birth should be Haryana or he has been in the state for at least 15 years to get a job under this quota. State that the Local Candidate Employment Bill, 2020 was passed by the Haryana Assembly last year.
